If a practice does not
use ASK as its claims clearinghouse (perhaps using
Emdeon, ECP, WebMD, etc), do practices need to be
concerned about sending electronic claims to WPS? |
|
A
practice submitting claims through ASK will no
longer be able to use ASK for Medicare claims
submission. They may continue to use ASK for BCBS
and commercial claims. To submit claims to WPS there
are three options:
1) Directly through a dial-up modem if the practice's
software creates HIPAA compliant claims;
2) Through a clearinghouse that sends claims to WPS
(possibly a mor expensive option than ASK has been);
3) Direct using PC-ACE
A practice should contact either its software vendor
or its clearinghouse to determine how it will submit
Medicare claims to WPS.

Will the
IVR system at WPS require the P-TAN (legacy numbers)
to check claim status or will NPI be the
requirement? |
According to the IVR computer
based training module (CBT) on the WPS web site,
providers will need their P-TAN or legacy numbers to
complete the calls to check claim status. The web
address to the CBT modules is:

Does WPS
plan to go to a web-based submission (similar to
ASK, Kansas Medicaid, etc)? |
|
For security
reasons, CMS does not allow web-based claim
submission. |
